Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Sunday firmly rejected US President Donald Trump’s offer to mediate on the Kashmir issue, stating that India does not need intervention from any foreign country to resolve its internal matters.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chaturvedi wrote, “We don’t need a US intervention or that of any other country to find a solution on Kashmir. Destiny has given us that responsibility and India must rise up to that challenge.”
Her remarks came in response to President Trump’s statement welcoming the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan. Trump praised the leadership of both nations and claimed that millions could have died had peace not been achieved, alluding to the threat of nuclear conflict. He also offered to mediate a “thousand-year” solution on Kashmir and expressed his intent to boost trade with both countries.
“I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision… I will work with you both to see if, after a thousand years, a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
However, India has consistently dismissed any third-party role in Kashmir. The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that the recent agreement to cease hostilities was brokered directly between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized that India maintains a steadfast policy against terrorism and continues to handle border issues independently. “India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” Jaishankar said.
India’s position remains clear: Kashmir is an internal matter, and any resolution will be determined solely by the Indian government.
